Your Healthiest Chocolate Craving SATISFIED!!! 

Let’s be honest…it happens to EVERYONE!  I’m a woman.  With three kids.  And a Chef for a husband.  SO, not only am I around delicious food a lot (well, in conversation) but he is gone ALL the time, so those late night munchies or cravings get the best of me if I have any chocolate in my home!  I try to only purchase it once in awhile and when I do, get the kind with peanuts (since I’m allergic) but I swear, somehow chocolate magically appears and it finds its way to my mouth anyways!  And then there are the bday parties, the soccer parties, the baby showers, something every weekend…you feel me Mamas?

Well, I am always looking for a less guilty way of enjoying, indulging, and satisfying that craving when I just can’t stand it anymore!  SUPER easy, COMPLETELY clean and no refined sugar, these “brownies” or mocha-frosted chocolate gooey bread completely hit home!  The only problem with this recipe is you might eat the whole thing 😉  My kids TOTALLY dug this and ate a ton of it!  Such a great substitute for sugar and flour filled brownies or cake!!  And with the protein, calcium, potassium, non-refined simple sugar and heart-healthy fats, this would actually make a PERFECT post workout recovery meal!  lol  Sign me up!!!

Chocolate Bread
2/3 c melted almond or other nut butter
3T real maple syrup (any grade)
1/3 DARK cocoa powder (unsweetened)
3 large over-ripe bananas mashed

Mocha Frosting
1 scoop of  protein powder (I used Cafe Latte Shakeology – could use chocolate as well)
1-2 T nut butter
1-2 T maple syrup/honey
3-4 T almond milk or other non-dairy milk

Preheat oven to 350.  Mix all ingredients thoroughly, pour into a greased loaf pan or 2 baby pans.  Bake for about 20 – 25 minutes or until done.  I personally like to pull mine out while it’s still gooey in the center, not where the toothpick is clean. Let cool completely before frosting…Or just eat without the frosting 😉  We ate these like brownies!!!


For frosting, mix all ingredients till completely blended and then add in the milk a little at a time to get the consistency you like.  I basically whipped it with a fork.  Pour over top! Refrigerate or just enjoy!  You could shave chocolate over the top, sprinkle chocolate chips, nuts, coconut shreds, or add any of those inside as well!!!
